Meet our qualified team based in Ulverston - J F Hornby

John has been a Chartered Accountant since 1968. He is the firm's founder and also a member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. After training locally John moved into industry becoming Chairman and Managing Director of a listed plc. For his work as Consulate of Norway, John holds the impressive Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, conferred on him by the King of Norway.

Paul joined the firm in 2000 after previously studying for his Degree and Masters. He is a fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants and a Chartered Accountant. Paul deals with all manner of clients giving them advice ranging from start up, strategic direction or taxation matters.

Beverley has worked in the accountancy profession for over 10 years and is a qualified Accounts Technician. She currently manages the accountancy team and works on accounts and taxation for the larger clients of the firm. Beverley is currently undertaking her final professional accountancy examinations.

Joanne has NVQ qualifications in Office Administration and has been the office manager for over 5 years. She is a skilled and experienced user of the latest MS Office software applications and has recently implemented the firms paperless office system.

Karen joined the firm in 2007 after previously working for many years in local practice. She is a qualified accounts technician and has considerable experience in VAT and payroll. Karen manages the firms payroll and also completes accounts for small sole traders and personal tax returns.

Stephen joined the firm from a large bespoke payroll software house where he spent over 10 years as the finance manager. He has much experience in preparing accounts for limited companies and charities. Stephen also completes VAT and personal tax for the firm.

Caroline has an excellent working knowledge of payroll and all Sage software after previously working in industry. She has moved into practice and completed her accountancy technician qualifications and is currently undertaking the ACCA professional qualifications. Caroline prepares the accounts for sole traders and small limited companies as well as completing personal tax returns.

Tom is one of our most experienced accounts assistants. He has a wealth of experience preparing accounts and has specialist knowledge of charity accounts, audit and sage accounting software. He is currently working towards the ACCA professional accountancy examinations.

Sarah joined us from a national firm. She has considerable experience in preparing accounts and VAT for a variety of clients. Sarah also has considerable experience of Sage software and is responsible for most of the firms training for clients. Currently she is now undertaking her professional accountancy qualification.

Kat joined the firm in 2010 after previously working in industry. She holds the AAT qualification and is an experienced operator of Sage software. Kat manages our bookkeeping function, prepares accounts for sole traders and completes personal tax returns.

Mark joined us last year and is a very experienced member of the team. Mark heads up the firms VAT department and is also heavily involved in technical compliance. He has considerable experience of preparing accounts for a variety of clients and has also just completed his final professional ACCA accountancy examinations.

Roland is the newest member of the accounts team having joined us last year. He brings to the firm an excellent knowledge of preparing accounts for a limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. He is currently studying for the professional accountancy qualifications.

India is the firms receptionist and the friendly face who will greet you on arrival. She is currently studying for her NVQ's in Business Administration.
